SmartPhasor design and deploys license-free WAMS platform solutions for small/medium scale, utilizing open-source software specifically tailored for PMU data management and modern user interfaces.

At its core, we utilize free-license versions of openPDC and openHistorian (1) as our primary engine for processing data from Phasor Measurement Units (PMUs). Additionally, we incorporate Grafana (2) to develop a tailored and highly customizable user interface. The foundational versions of these technologies not only enhance our capabilities but also contribute to our goal of providing robust and cost-effective synchrophasor solutions.

Beyond the core deployment, users have the option to incorporate, at any time, lincesed SmartPhasor Applications that are specifically tailored provide high Situational Awareness to the control-room and enriched analytics to power system engineers.

Implementing a cloud system has many benefits, including lower costs, better scalability, and easier access, helping businesses run more efficiently. However, some companies may need strict control over their data and compliance with regulations, making on-premises solutions a better fit. Critical mission industries, such as energy transmission, often have strict data management regulations that necessitate the direct handling of sensitive information. In these cases, keeping full control and customizing security can be more important than cloud benefits, ensuring data integrity and compliance.

SmartPhasor desgined can be deployed intwo versions: Cloud and on-premises. Both offer essential features for energy monitoring and analysis. The Cloud version (offer as a service with annual subscription) allows easy access and scalability, making it ideal for companies aiming to reduce infrastructure costs. On the other hand, the on-premises version (delivered with perpetual license for the core functions) provides greater control and security, allowing users to manage their data on-site.

WAMS As-a-Service Pricing

We are proud to state that we are the first company in the industry to offer a comprehensive WAMS-as-a-service model. Our cloud WAMS service eliminates the need for hardware while addressing concerns related to capacity and maintenance. We take care of all operational aspects, allowing you to focus on your core activities. You are simply required to transmit your PMU streams to our cloud servers.

The budgetary price includes the cloud service running costs, WAMS core functions and service warranty. Note that this reference is based on a standard PMU stream (3) and this may varries depending the variety of PMU data frames you have.

WAMS On-Premises Pricing

If on-premises is your preferred solution due to strict regulations within your company, or if you prefer a perpetual installation, we can implement the WAMS core solution directly on your hardware platform, provided you supply the necessary resources for our engineers to access them remotely (e.g., reliable VPN connection).

Our pricing encompasses our efforts in deploying the core solution plus the first year of W&M service (4) and can be renewed annually through a renewal fee. Once installed, the system is yours without any licensing/service commitment fees (perpetual use). Although pricing may vary based on your architecture and application needs, the reference budgetary is for the fundamental core solution is presented below.

(1) ​openPDC is an open-source tool that collects and processes real-time streaming data, aligning synchrophasor measurements from PMUs using GPS timestamps for accurate data sharing. openHistorian is an open-source system designed to archive large amounts of time-series data, like SCADA and synchrophasor data, with high-resolution storage, accurate timestamps, and lossless compression to ensure data integrity (www.gridprotectionalliance.org/).

(3) A Standad PMU is a concept that helps us to calculate precisely the data rate of a given PMU for capacity and budgetary planning only. It does not imposes any sort of technical limitations, since PMUs can take many other sorts of signal types, such as analogs and point-on-wave. Our standard defines 1 PMU stream containing 1x frequency, 3x voltage phasors, 3x current phasors plus quality bits operating at 50 FPS. 

(4) A Warranty & Maintenance contract provides customers with assurance and ongoing support. Warranty covers defects or malfunctions in the software for a specified period post-purchase. Maintenance ensures the software remains functional and up-to-date through bug fixes, updates, and technical assistance.
